Another fun activity to celebrate our 100th Day will be the 100th Day Mystery Bags! Students will get a paper bag tomorrow to bring home and fill with 100 of a given item. They will need to make sure all 100 of their chosen item will fit inside their paper bag and are school appropriate.  Some examples are paper clips, Legos, pennies, bouncy balls, etc.

There is a piece of paper attached to their paper bag. They will need to write 3 clues for guessing what their item is. They will read their clues for the class and students will make guesses about what they think the chosen item may be.

Mystery bags need to be brought back to school, no later than Wednesday February 12th for the 100th day of school.

The 100th Day of Second Grade is coming up next week! To help us celebrate, we will be making a 100 Day Snack. There are 10 different ingredients and students will need 10 of each.

Please use the sign up genius link below to donate different ingredients for our snack. We will need about 220 pieces of each ingredient. If snack ingredients could be brought to school by Monday February 10th that would be so helpful!

It’s that time of year again! We are working on perfecting our poem performances. 2nd Graders should have their poems memorized at this point in our preparation process.

Students should include actions to go along with their presentation of their poem. Please invite your child to practice their poem in front of others, dinner time or family weekend gatherings are perfect times to practice.

This is a copy of the rubric I will be using to score their presentation of their poem. It is a wonderful tool to support poem practice time.

Memorization	Student has all of his/her poem & gestures memorized.	Student has most of his/her poem & gestures memorized.	Student has some of his/her poem & gestures memorized.	Student does not have his/her poem & gestures memorized but attempt the presentation. Student has not chosen a 20-line poem.
Fluency	Student has excellent fluency (not too fast and not too slow, words are smooth).	Student has good fluency (not too fast and not too slow).	Student has mostly good fluency but has difficulty with one of the following: goes too fast, too slow, or struggles to present the words smoothly.	Student does not have good fluency. Student has trouble with two or more of the following: words are unclear, choppy, too fast, too slow, or struggles to present the words smoothly.
Poise & posture	Student has excellent poise & posture (stands up straight, body is calm and controlled)	Student has good poise & posture (stands up straight).	Student has mostly good poise & posture during presentation but has some difficulty keeping (hands, feet, body still).	Student does not have good poise & posture during presentation. Their actions are distracting for the audience.
Voice	Student uses an effective volume during entire presentation. Speaks with expression.	Student uses effective volume during most of presentation.
